by Adam Carmen

Acid Reflux (GERD) can present itself in many different ways. However these are 5 of the most common symptoms of Acid Reflux (GERD).

Heartburn

You have what you think is standard "heartburn" more than a couple times a week and you keep a roll of tums on you or in your car at all times.

Nighttime Acid Reflux
You wake up in the morning and your chest hurts and your throat is sore. This is often from nighttime acid reflux. You don't feel the pain at night unless it gets really bad.

Throat Clearing

You are constantly clearing your throat and sniffling but you don't have a cold

You Regurgitate
You bend over to tie your shoes or pick up a small child and you regurgitate. (Whatever is in your stomach coming back up, burning your esophagus and back into your mouth)

Fullness

After eating you have a great deal of stomach fullness, burping and or bloating even though you did not over eat

If you recognize yourself in any of these symptoms it may be time to see your doctor. If not treated Acid Reflux can be extremely dangerous and in some cases leading to Barrett's Esophagus which can in some people, if left untreated, can lead to esophageal cancer.
